Kenneth Oguzie is an International Trade Specialist, and Diversity and Inclusion Consultant,residing in Nova Scotia since 2014. Born in Nigeria, Ken considers himself a global citizenhaving lived in Asia, Europe, Africa and presently North America. A Masters graduate of SocialPolicy and Development from the London School of Economics, he is presently theCEO of Africa Canada Trade and Investment Venture (ACTIV), an organization which promotesinternational Trade and business between Canada and West Africa, both within private sector aswell as creating public sector collaborations. He is also a Senior Diversity Consultant with theNova Scotia PSC and the Vice President of the Development of Ocean Technical Capacity withAfrican Nations (DOTCAN)- a Canada-West Africa not for profit initiative
A prominent member of the Nigerian community and a recent recipient of the distinguished Nigerian in Nova Scotia award for his contribution to the Nigerian , as well as the West African community, Ken’s organization ACTIV in partnership with NSBI hosted the first ever West Africa-Nova Scotia trade and business summit in 2018. This landmark event was attended by multiple businesses from West Africa and Canada in including Government officials from both regions and key players in the international trade industry.
Ken has supported numerous immigrants from across the world in settling in Nova Scotia as well as other provinces across Maritime Canada, both formally in his previous employment specialist role with ISANS, as well as informally, and continuously advocates for equal opportunities for immigrants . He volunteers in various committees such as the Halifax local immigrant partnership, accessing skilled force committee of the Halifax chambers of commerce, Welcome to Canada Halifax Immigration museum (Pier21) ambassador, ISANS employer advisory council, Diversity and Inclusion Standing Advisory Committee of the Nova Scotia College of Pharmacists etc.
Ken is a strong advocate of girl-child empowerment in Africa and presently supports various not for profit organizations in West Africa
